Sophie Butcher is a creative visual editor at The New York Times.  She holds a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons The New School for Design, and a BA in Literary Studies from Eugene Lang The New School for Liberal Arts.

Throughout her career, she has worked with storytelling in a variety of different ways. Some highlights include typesetting and recreating the original publication The Bikeriders by Danny Lyon for Aperture, interviewing her favorite artist Sophie Calle for VICE, being hired as one of the first creatives at T Brand Studio and photographing and art directing a variety of  stories around the world along the way.  Her latest project has been launching a literary climate magazine Hold on Whale!
